Extended Day at Good Shepherd Montessori

Camp Fire River Bend provides daily after school programming at Good Shepherd Montessori School in South Bend, Indiana. The program operates on school-day afternoons from the end of the school day until 5:30pm. We also provide all-day programming (8am to 5:30pm) on some days when school is not in session. Students may sign up for a set schedule, or you can register your child and use Camp Fire for drop-in care. You can change your weekly schedule as needed.

What is the cost?

Our After School programs incorporate Camp Fire’s Thrive{ology} principles into our daily curriculum, and are structured in collaboration with the school to ensure that Camp Fire programs complement the participants’ education. Youth will be encouraged to spend their time in ways that align with their passions and unique talents. Our staff will gather youth input to tailor curricula to meet the needs and nurture the Sparks of the youth in the program.

If you’re ready to get started, you can start the registration process online, or you can contact us by email or phone to request hard copies of the registration form. If you have questions, please email us or call us at 574-387-6095

COVID-19 Adjustments

We know that this year is going to look very different at school and at extended day, so we wanted to provide you with as much information as possible. We have been in communication with Mr. Driscoll, and we are working with GSMS to make sure that our program follows the safety protocols that have been developed by the school to protect your students and our staff.

The Camp Fire program will begin on Monday, August 17. We will provide a week-long day camp program for the week of August 17.

Our regular Extended Day program will begin on Monday, August 24, to coincide with the start of the school year. We will provide extended day care from the end of the school day until 5:30pm. We will keep the older and younger students separated into two groups (Primary and Lower El in one group; Upper El and Junior High in a second group). We will plan to spend as much time outdoors as the weather allows. If we are forced to be indoors due to inclement weather, the younger group will be in the social hall, and the older group in the sanctuary.

We will have one staff member with each group, and a third staff member will float between the groups to help deal with any issues that arise or to provide assistance to the other staff members when needed. Our staff will wear masks at all times, and students will be asked to follow the school’s mask policy. The need for additional staffing and supplies to keep groups separated means that we must raise our fees slightly to accommodate the additional costs. The 2020-2021 fees will be $8.50 per day for regularly scheduled days, and $11 for drop in days.
